					<description>Excellent write up, I have been investigating the various impact of online identities for a while. I like the countermeasure for the problem of casting a long shadow, I hadn't thought of it that way before but it is very obvious once pointed out.</description>

It seems that companies might be nervous about exposing themselves online because traditionally a brand is well cultivated and highly controlled. How do the points you make about an individual online relate to a company trying to provide better customer service (especially about casting a long shadow and being transparent)?
