Survey Says…

How many people successfully get technical help online? Only 2%?!

That is a slightly depressing number that comes out of a recently released Pew Internet survey. The survey is a little weighted in a few ways, so take it with a grain of salt. But it definitely speaks to the frustration many people have when trying to get technical help with their gadgets and machines.

Here are some of the ways people approached their “get help now” moment, according to the survey:

38% of users with failed technology contacted user support for help.
28% of technology users fixed the problem themselves.
15% fixed the problem with help from friends or family.
15% of tech users were unable to fix their devices
2% found help online

2%!

I have a hard time believing that particular detail is accurate, but even if it is, that number will surely increase quite quickly as more and more people look to online places for answers to nearly everything.

I would write all about it, but Mashable has already beaten me to it.
