We love working at Get Satisfaction. We’re building this cool Web site and trying to change the way companies do customer service, while helping loads of customers get the informal, authentic help they’ve always wanted.

Because we’re building something that’s never existed before, we sometimes have a hard time explaining how our system works — especially to our moms. Not all of them have experience with social networking or the conventions of the Internet. Some of our moms are savvy enough to follow us on Facebook (yikes!), but some of them wince when we utter the phrase “Flash movie” in mixed company. Maybe you can help.

Let’s make this a contest!

Your mission: Describe Get Satisfaction so our moms will understand what it is we do — and why they might want to try using us the next time they need customer-service help.

One entry per person, please.

How do you enter? Super easy. Enter by adding a reply to this topic.

One simple sentence works. Or, make it a few. It’s up to you. It can be straightforward and no-nonsense, or clever and witty. You can even try to explain it to your mom and report back what she says if you like. Whatever you think is an accurate, engaging, or interesting way to explain what Get Satisfaction is all about to the moms of the world. If you know us, you already know that we encourage creativity!

And, of course, we encourage you to vote on the ones you like best. You can vote by clicking “This answers the question” in the contest topic. On September 4th, we’ll pick the most popular answers and run them by our moms over Labor Day weekend. Then, we’ll announce the winner on or around September 8th, in the contest topic and here on our blog. (We’ll also contact you by e-mail if you’re the winner.)

  4. Mom… Get Satisfaction is like a great big cookbook with thousands of companies around the world each with their own chapter and recipes contained within. When you or someone you know has a difficulty using a product or wants to learn how to do something that you didn’t know before you simply go to that company’s Get Satisfaction forum and look up the recipe that the employees and customers recommend to solve your problem. Get Satisfaction it truly the Rock Soup of the internet with millions of people from around the world contributing to help others solve their problems…

    Mom, did you know there’s a website that is effectively the customer support desk for the whole internet? Often times the companies involved handle the customer complaints, but sometimes other users pitch in too. Its all searchable and pretty slick, so its easy to use and has the answers to a lot of problems already there. Oh, and you get to mark each comment with a smiley or frowny face.

    Mom, Get Satisfaction is a on-line company that other companies use to help them run an on-line Help Desk. To use Get Satisfaction you just find the name of the company that makes the product that you need help with. Then you can post a question to the company. Employees there will then see your question and respond. Responses can be emailed directly to you. Sometimes other users might even respond. You can also search to see if someone else has already asked the question that you have. It’s really cool and really simple.
